Long Description
The Old Convent is situated in Ravenshoe, the highest town in Queensland 913 meters (3010 feet) above sea level where the humidity is low and the nights are cool.

Ravenshoe is on the Evelyn Tablelands, Cairns Highlands only 2 hours drive from Cairns. Ideally situated on the doorstep to the Misty Mountains, Savannah Way, lake Koombooloomba, Undara, the Atherton Tablelands and many waterfalls and other beautiful drives and walks.

The Old Convent, as it stands today, was completed in 1950 and commissioned by the Sister’s Of Mercy. The Convent dates back as early as the 1890’s as sections of the building were relocated from the historic mining townships of Irvinebank (previously the Irvinebank Church, Circa 1890) and Herberton (previously St Joseph’s Boys Home – part of Mount Saint Bernard College, Circa 1920). In the mid 1980’s the Sister’s Of Mercy sold the Convent to a local parish family for use as a private residence.

It was in 1997 that The Old Convent adopted a new purpose and became a Country Guest House.
