Long Description
Raft one of New Zealand's most exciting stretches of white water with our team at Rangitata Rafts. With one scheduled trip per day we have the time to treat you as an individual, yet at the end of the day you will feel part of the team. Bus departs daily from Christchurch. Or drive yourselves to our rafting base, located on one of New Zealand's first high country sheep stations, inland from Geraldine. A fresh early lunch is served on arrival at our lodge before changing into our rafting and safety clothing. It is then time for 2.5 hours of fun and exciting rafting surrounded by spectacular scenery. The mountains formed the background for 'Edoras' Lord of the Rings. The rafting begins on flat water allowing you time for safety briefings and to practise paddling as a team. The river then naturally progresses to the intense grade 5 rapids. There is the option to walk around these. For those keen there is also time for some swimming through the smaller rapids and an optional leap from 'Jump Rock'. Return to our lodge for hot showers and a relaxed traditional BBQ. Bus returns to Christchurch by 7.30pm. Backpacker style accommodation is available at our lodge. Season 0ct - May.
